Situation: Jenny Brown, a 23-year-old Army veteran of the Afghan war, gravida 1 para 0 is at 18-weeks' gestation. She has an episode of agitation in imaging services following the tech's statement of, "Oh, your baby has cleft lip and palate," then refused to say anything further. She is admitted after an episode of agitation, r/o panic attack, after she destroyed equipment in the ultrasound room, necessitating a code green and temporary restraints.
Background: Jenny is an otherwise healthy, pregnant, female veteran of the Afghan war. She is in a monogamous, supportive relationship with the baby's father. She doesn't smoke or drink. Pediatrician has been consulted for after discharge.
Assessment: Jenny is an alert, oriented female. The OB staff have assessed the otherwise healthy pregnancy. She is cooperative but had an outburst when the OB staff came to assess her pregnancy when they would n't give her any information about her baby's cleft lip and palate.
