Relative Motion A river is flowing in the easterly direction at a speed of 2.0 m/s. A person in need of being rescued from the river is flowing with the river located at the center of the river of width 100 m.

A rescuer takes off from the south bank swimming from the bank of the river at the instant the person is directly perpendicular to the bank. The rescuer can swim at 3.0 m/s relative to still waters.

a. What angle relative to the easterly direction should the rescuer point herself to minimize the time to reach the person? Take the easterly direction to be the +x-direction.

b. Find the minimum time to reach the person.
