Evelyn has been challenged by her courses this semester. They are all demanding much more in terms of her thinking and contributing to the discussion in class. Her professors not only want her to know the content but to have an original thought or opinion about it. She never knew biology courses could require so much beyond mastering the material. In her Evolutionary Biology course, the professor quizzes students every week on the supplemental reading and tests on material that was assigned in the textbook but not discussed in the lecture. Evelyn has failed every quiz so far, and her test scores are not much better. When she went to talk to her professor, she didn't even know what to say because she was unsure of why she was struggling. All she could tell her is that she has never had to think so hard and come up with original ideas in a biology course. What advice would you give Evelyn and why do you think it would be helpful?
