Problem
You've recently been appointed as the creative director of the new Melbourne office of a vibrant design studio. The studio accommodates diverse talents ranging from graphic designers and UX/UI specialists to animators and creative directors. As a leader, you will select some employees to bring to the new office, as well as recruiting new talent because of the expansion.
Based on your understanding of Topic 5 (Decision Making and Creativity), Topic 6 (Team Dynamics and Communication in Teams), and Topic 9 (Organisational Culture), answer the following questions:
I. What characteristics will you look for when you form the new team (i.e., including selecting current employees and hiring new employees)? Identify at least two.
II. From a team building perspective, what may be one foreseeable challenge when you put together current employees and new hires?
III. What actions will you take to strengthen the organisational culture that supports thinking outside of the box and pushing creative boundaries? Give at least two examples.
IV. What would you do to make sure the newly hired team members can find their footing as organisational newcomers? Make sure your answer covers both learning and adjustment aspects.
