Question: What is it that can be said about the point of view below?
Social regulations refer to the "quality of life" and prohibit discrimination against protective groups such as race, color, sex, age, and disability. Economic regulations make it to that industries will have competition by not allowing monopolies and also who can go into business, what they produce and how safe these products are, and what standard to set them to.
It can be considered too much regulation when people's rights are being infringed upon. For example, the book talked about when our former President, Donald Trump, wanted to place extreme vetting on those who were Muslim, trying to enter to the country. He said that he wanted to be sure that they were only allowing people who shared the same values as our country, but I feel like that was a bad message to send out considering that there are American citizens who are Muslim and who have Muslim families members who would want to visit them. Also, it gave the impression that he was attacking their religion with the intent to keep the country safe.
It can be considered too little regulation when people are starting to be harmed and certain aspects are quality isn't being met. For example, when the Vape pens first came out, I feel like it was not regulated enough and that's why it was able to get into the hands of so many youth. Vapes have been around since around 2007 but it wasn't until 2016 that the Child Nicotine Poisoning Prevention Act was passed, which finally gave the FDA the authority to regulate vapes or e-cigarette packing like they do regular cigarettes (Jones & Salzman, 2020).
The Food and Drug Administration is a department that should have more regulations. They deal with things that people consume such as food and drugs and also things that people use such as cosmetics and medical products. These things can change the state of a person's health, their physical appearance, and their mental. These are important things to toughly regulate.
