My first though on this topic would be religious traditions. America, and must of western culture has deep roots in Judeo-Christian values, where as Saudi Arabia is a theologically conservative Theocracy that is governed by a royal family. Additionally, the lack of individual rights for women as opposed to men is vastly different than that of the United States. There are many gender specific laws in Saudi Arabia that make it difficult for women. With Saudi Arabia being a strict Islamic theocracy, this would make it a challenge for foreign investment into the country for any westernized country.

If a devout / distinctly christian company desires to do business with a company located in Saudi Arabia, it would be beneficial to know and respect the customs of the Saudi Arabian culture, especially the religious customs. It would be beneficial for the American company to hire consultants that are familiar with Saudi culture and Islam in order to better prepare for doing business in the country. I believe to be successful in infiltrating the Saudi market, there will have to be a lot of submission from the American company to that Saudi way of life and laws in order to be successful. Also, the product has to be something that Saudi's would actually want and not something that is forced on them. Preparing to invest your company in a country such as Saudi Arabia would more than likely take longer than usual when investing in a foreign country located in Europe.
