Part 1: VOC room design mood board

As discussed in class, the design of spaces can impact how people feel and relate to each other and facilitators are encouraged to consider the design of the space in which they hold the VOC meeting so that the environment represents and facilitates an experience of restorative justice. You will "design" the room in which you will hold your VOC through the creation of a mood board (see here for more information about mood boards). This mood board will include:

• At least 5 images that represent the type of furniture, colors, amenities, etc. that you would want in a room for the VOC you are facilitating;
• Short captions for each image explaining the image choice in relation to the VOD. E.g., what do you hope that feature will achieve for the participants or process?

There are free mood board creation tools online which you can use (e.g., Canva) or you can copy/paste images into a Word document.

Students in both options will also write reflection paper or 4-6 minute audio recording in which you assess your skills as evidenced in the facilitation. The reflection will address the following questions:

1. What do you see as your greatest strengths (both qualities and skills) as a facilitator in this dialogue? Name at least two.
2. Describe your reactions (internal and external) during the dialogue and how these helped or hindered your ability to facilitate the dialogue?
3. Were there any moments in which you felt "stuck?" What was happening for you in those moments? Going forward, what strategies might you develop for dealing with these kinds of moments?
4. What 2 or 3 skills would you identify as needing improvement? What concrete steps will you take to make these improvements?
