Question

Florence Nightingale, who is a well-known pioneer in the nursing industry, was the first to "introduce the concept of scientific inquiry as a basis for nursing practice (Houser, 2018, p. 6)." Her forward thinking of collecting data, regarding the health conditions of soldiers, by using statistical methods in order to promote better outcomes led to the development of nursing education as we know it now. As time passed, this ultimately led to the creation of the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR). Nightingale's work was the foundation that ensured nursing practice would "improve the health of individuals, families, communities and populations through evidence-based nursing practice (NINR, 2019)."
