You and Joan are close work friends. Joan has emailed you for help weighing the pros and cons of her options, and for your advice regarding the following situation. As the office administrator, Joan is responsible for ordering and maintaining a stock of office supplies, including bottled water and soda for clients. During the past month, she has noticed that those drinks have been disappearing rather quickly. One night as Joan is leaving she sees a fellow employee, Thomas, with whom she is not very close or friendly, packing a bag full of water and soda (the bottles meant for clients) and carrying it out to his car.

Should Joan talk to the employee individually, or should she report what she saw to Human Resources? Is there another option? Explain your answer?
