Question

Consider the hyperfine correction in the hydrogen energy state due to the nuclear magnetic moment is given by Hny = AI . J, where I and J represent the nucleus spin quantum number and total angular momentum quantum number respectively. Use F = I + J. Now consider the zemman splitting in presence both weak and strong magnetic field of the given system with a Zeeman splitting Hamiltonian as HZeeman = -Mtotal . B where UT = -geMBJ + 9p/BI. Here ge and gp denote the magnetic moment g-factor for the electron and proton respectively. Draw the energy level diagram for both weak and strong magnetic field cases. Also write the allowed possible transitions.
