Really enjoyed this course and felt like it brought up many issues we may encounter when we begin our nursing careers and how to handle them. Two topics I felt that stood out to me were workplace bullying and lobbying for nursing rights. I think that learning how to recognize the signs of workplace bullying and knowing the proper people to report that to, can create a healthier and less toxic culture at work. The more nurses who report cases of abuse they are experiencing, the more likely protocols will be in placed and actual punishment will be given (ANA, 2020). In addition, lobbying and getting involved in organizations that support nurses such as the California Nurses Association or Sigma Theta Tau is great place to start and get involved.
