Water is the working fluid in a cogeneration cycle that generates electricityand provides heat for campus buildings. Steam at 2 MPa, 320°C, expands through a two-stageturbine. Some steam is extracted between the two stages at 0.15 MPa to provide 10 6 kJ/hr for heating, and the remainder expands through the second stage turbine to the condenser pressure of 0.06 bar. The net power developed by the cycle is 600 kW. Condensate returns from the campus buildings (process heater exit) at 0.1 MPa, 60°C and passes through a throttling valve into the condenser, where it is reunited with the main feed-water flow. Saturated liquid at 0.06 bar leaves the condenser. Each turbine stage has an isentropic efficiency of 80%, and the pumping process can be considered isentropic. Determine:
a) The mass flow rate of steam into the first turbine stage, in kg/hr.b) The heat transfer rate to the working fluid passing through the boiler, in kJ/hr.c) The rate of heat transfer to the cooling water passing through the condenser

The angular acceleration of a shaft is defined by the relation a = -0.25w, where a is expressed in rad/s^2 and w in rad/s. Knowing that at t=0 th angular velocity of the shaft is 20 rad/s, determine the time required for the shaft to come to rest.

Steam at 10bar and 0.95 dry flows at 130 m/sec in a pipe. It is throttled to 8 bar and the flow rate is 12 kg/sec. Assuming velocity in the pipe on the down stream side of the valve is 160 m/sec. Find the final condition of steam and the pipe diam..
For a pump in the basement which must deliver water to a bucket on the floor of the upper mechanical room, what is the minimum pressure in psig you will see at the pump discharge.
Calculate the static thrust of the turbojet engine having mass flow 88lbm/sec the ratio of air and fuel mass flowing into the turbojet is 50:1 and it's exhaust plane the velocity is 1640 ft/sec and pressure is same as ambient pressure?
Calculate the mass flow (in slugs/per second) that comes out the exit of the engine. The plane is at standard altitude 50,000 ft and velocity = 2200 ft/s. Would appreciate attack to problem.
