Source  three critical articles that focus on a common theme or element of the text, Evaluate how well the articles you chose interpret Native Speaker. What are some points these critics make that convincingly illuminate aspects of the novel? What are some points/perspectives that seem unsupported or unsurprising? To be informative and persuasive, early in the essay you should summarize the arguments of each these critics briefly, in a paragraph or less.  The essay must have an argument contained in a thesis statement.  The argument might be something like, "criticism on Chang-Rae Lee's Native Speaker has been especially enlightening regarding how the novel reworks the traditional form of the detective novel." Or, "Of critics who address the theme of language acquisition in Chang-Rae Lee's Native Speaker, only Gonzales offers a truly satisfying analysis." Or, "Although several critics address the theme of Asian-American identity in Chang-Rae Lee's Native Speaker, none of those discussed here has adequately analyzed what versions of selfhood are specific to Korean-American culture.
