Question: When a manager took over a furniture factory four years ago, she realized that the fac-tory was throwing out over $150,000 worth of scrap wood annually. By the end of her first week on the job, she organized a task force of managers and workers to find a solution to the scrap wood problem. By the end of her first year as manager, the furniture factory cut the amount of scrap wood to $29,000 worth per year. Was this necessarily an economically efficient move?
