Reflective papers - instructions and grading scheme
Your assignment is to write 3 reflective papers coming out of the 5 remaining classes of the semester. They are due one week after the class you are writing about, in-class, on-paper, at the beginning of class.
NB : There are no extensions possible. It is highly advised, therefore, to not wait for the last 3 classes, to avoid any conflict with an unforeseen absence.
The task is to respond to the material seen in class: lecture, presentations, and readings. Some ideas for what you should be writing about:
Did something pique your interest? Was a new perspective brought that you enjoyed, disagreed with strongly, that shocked you, or that made you reconsider something?
Does the material relate to something you've experienced in your own life and has caused you to reconsider that event? Did the material anger you, and you want to express your outrage?
The goal is not to provide a summary of the materials. However, in your paper you must make it clear that you attended class, read the readings, and understood the materials.
Length: between 2 and 4 pages double-spaced. Do not exceed 4 pages.
Format: No formalities (cover page, etc) are required. These are informal papers with no particular writing style required - and the use of the first-person is encouraged. However, please remember that this is still a written assignment for a university class: spelling and grammar compose part of your grade. Please type assignments.
Citations: References to material can be made with in-text citations for materials assigned or seen in class, for example "Your papers are due one week after we see the material in class" (Silverman, November 2nd, 2018)
