Performance objective

Assessment description:
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to use appropriate tools, equipment, software and protocols to install, operate, and troubleshoot medium enterprise switches.
Procedure:
1 You will need to follow instructions below and address all activities required.
2 This is an individual activity where each candidate will be assessed individually;
3 Attempt all tasks and submit assessment evidence to your assessor by the date provided (see submission details)
Instructions:
1. Complete the attached Materials Handling Sheet; this is the pre check for OHS before you undertake an installation of any kind.
2. Document an access plan – detail how you would access a site (that may include a confined place, also how you would install a network that has two separate site access.)
3. Outline the peripheral devices – Routers – Switches – Servers – Cabling etc. The network has two separate sites, they have 1 sever in each site, and have 23 computers in each site.
You need to provide details of the equipment needs – cables – patch panels cabling etc for this network the VPN has a distance of 250 meters between each site. You need to detail this within a topology drawing. You need to supply me with the IP addressing of the network.
Important components:
Network Plan – Cost of goods – provided in a spreadsheet – site access plan – site ohs checklist – work breakdown structure and a sign off record for all the above.

Your assessor will be looking for evidence of:
• plan and prepare for the WAN link installation task
• install and configure WAN links
• configure and troubleshoot the following IP services:
o NAT
o DHCP
o ACLs
o configure and troubleshoot ADSL links
o configure and troubleshoot VPNs.
