Topic: Volkswagen emissions scandal( In Relation to Utilitarianism, Kantianism and Virtue Ethics)
1. The format: 4-6 pages, double-spaced, Times New Roman font, with standard one-inch margins. Pay attention to this format; do not play with it to meet page requirements. And note that "4-6 pages" means "at least four complete pages" and "not going (significantly) over six complete pages."
2. The final assignment is a research paper in which you are to present the information, findings, and conclusion of your group's presentation and elaborate on the presentation to discuss further critical questions and/or explore aspects of the topic or the case that were not addressed in the presentation. This elaboration need not be very extensive, but I want to see that you have given serious thought to the ethical relevance and implications of your topic and case(s). You should not focus only on your part in the presentation but cover all the essential parts of the presentation including the background information regarding the origin and consequences of the case, the theoretical discussion of the relevant ethical theories and notions and their application to the case, and the broader questions for further discussion.
3. You should take into consideration the feedback I provide regarding the presentation of your group (e.g., concerning the choice of the case, the use of the ethical theories, overall clarity and coherence, etc.) and make sure to address them in your paper. Similarly, if someone else in the classroom raised a good critical question, then it is advisable that you address that in your paper. (You can rest assured that I will have taken a note of a good question from the audience)
4. One final note. Make sure to identify your sources carefully and cite them properly. If you have any questions, make sure to consult the syllabus or me.
