This can aid in reducing turnover and contribute to an organization's productivity and performance. Assignment Instructions: Create a PowerPoint presentation plan to present to stakeholders to improve employee retention on your unit or in your facility. The plan should include the following content: Hiring Process: What are key things to look for in reviewing applications (beyond current licensure and required certifications or experience)? What specific interview questions and/or scenarios should be included when peers or leaders meet with candidates? What type of response to the scenario is considered ideal? Include the Situation, Task, Action, and Response (STAR) approach in your proposed question. First 90 days: Include a section relating to the first 90 days for any new hire and what development and outreach will be provided to help the new employee feel confident and that they belong. Retention Plan: Outline how your retention plan will reach employees working varied shifts and in different roles; be conscious that scheduled activities can feel like an obligation to employees even if they are intended to be enjoyable-consider ways to insert joy into daily work. Recognize professional development that earn contact hours or new credentials for staff are appreciated; perhaps the professional development your organization needs can be developed, and Continuing Education Units (CEUs) applied for from an authorized approved continuing education or another professional organization before it is presented to employees. Disney Leadership Strategy: Incorporate at least three principles of the Respect, Appreciate, and Value Everyone (RAVE) model from Lee Cockerell's Creating Magic (2008) in your plan. Make sure everyone matters...and that everyone knows it. Know your team. Let your team get to know you. Greet people sincerely. Reach out to everyone on your team. Make yourself available. Listen to understand. Communicate clearly, directly, and honestly. Stand up for the excluded. Forget about the chain of command (get away from the rigid, top-down structure and be willing to listen to anyone) Do not micromanage. Design your culture. Treat your people as you would want your customers to be treated.
