Task Details
Task One - Launch a Virtual AWS Sever at AWS Cloud
T1.1 sign up and login in AWS Educate via the link provided in the invitation email (subject: Your AWS Educate Application) you received in your FedUni mailbox. If you did not receive the invitation email, please contact your lecturer. Click menu Classrooms & Credits > Request or go to an AWS Educate Classroom> Go to my classrooms (right side menu) > Go to classroom >My classes (top menu) > select the course you study >
T1.2 click "AWS Console"> click "Launch a virtual machine with EC2> select below Windows Server 2012 R2

Task Two - Remote Administration of the AWS Server using Remote Desktop
T2.1 download and Install Remote Desktop at your localhost. If your localhost is Mac,
If your localhost is windows, then follow
From your localhost, use Remote Desktop to log into your remote virtual server, using the Instance Amazon Public URL of your virtual server (given by your lab instructor).
T2.2 Login to the server using: Username: Administrator, and Password: WINDOWS2012 Password of your virtual server (given by your lab instructor).
T2.3 Using the Toolkit in NetworkSims (Start->NetworkSims->Toolkit), and go to the OS>WMI tab, and determine the basic specification of the computer:

T2.4 determine the details of the computer using the WMI (Windows Management Interface) CLI commands:
wmic.exe cpu list brief
Question:
What is the basic specification your Windows virtual Server on AWS Cloud?
T2.5 check which services are running on the WINDOWS virtual server with the netstat -a command, check Windows event log, system log, and application log files?
Question:
Which TCP-based service has an Established connection? Where do can you find Windows system logs?
Task Three - Setup and Monitoring Web Service on EC2 VM
T3.1 Click on IIS in the IIS Manager pane, navigate to the Default Web Site, right click and select Manage Web Site->Start if the server is not running.
Test that you can access the web site locally, from within the virtual server WINDOWS image, using https://localhost
T3.2 Test the web site can be accessed from outside the virtual image. From your local machine DESKTOP. Connect to WINDOWS2012 Web Server default web page, using https://WINDOWS2012 Public URL

What do you need to add to the URL to access the web server?
T3.3 Create your own page in C:\inetpub\wwwroot by copying iisstart.htm to default.htm , and amending the html, or creating a new page, using a text editor, such as notepad++, or Visual Studio C# Web Developer 2008.
Test the web page can be accessed from inside WINDOWS Server, and outside the virtual image from your localhost.
Task Four - Setup Telnet Service on EC2 VM
A GUI Remote Desktop sometime is not available to administer your Windows Server. Basic unencrypted remote administration can be done via Telnet. Installation and configuration of the Windows Telnet Server can be managed through Server Manager>Features
T3.1 if the Telnet Server wasn't installed, please add the service using Server Manager > Local Server >Manage (Top right menu)>Add Roles and Features Wizard, press the Next button until you see Telnet Server and Telnet Client option, click the options and proceed to install the server.
T4.2 From your localhost, connect to the Telnet server using a Telnet Client such as Putty.

Is the Telnet server running? Which port should it be running on?
