Question

The viral protein Integrase is responsible for integrating the double-stranded viral genome into the host chromosome, causing it to become a provirus. The inhibitors that are directed toward the viral integrase are in their third generation and yet they are still not used very readily as resistance to the drugs by Integrase happens very rapidly. You have discovered a new Integrase inhibitor that you name Inhibtivir. Explain the mechanism by which the viral Integrase becomes resistant to Inhibtivir.
