The writings of different authors can be partially characterized by the variability in the lengths of their sentences. Two manuscripts, A and B, are found by a historian and she wants to know whether they have the same author. Several sentences from each are chosen at random, and word counts are taken; the variable of interest y is the number of words per sentence.
