Human beings are naturally wired to use hardball tactics in negotiations. Our adverse environments and the need for survival has shaped us into the competitive creatures we are. The free-market economy that we live and work in is also based on competition. Hence, the values we imbibe and inculcate in others are competitive values. It takes a herculean effort to move to Integrative Negotiation which is based on trust, value creation and value sharing for mutual gain.
