What are your takeaways from the following discussion?

Artificial Intelligence is being used today for a lot of social and digital technology but also is powering the next generation of legal technology as well. Attorneys in the legal system is bounded by a very strict ethical conduct and with the usage of AI can be a shortcut to the duty pledged by the attorney. Jose Lazares the Vice President of product strategy believes that artificial intelligence is incorporating algorithms that’s replacing human decision-making. There’s concern about how the artificial intelligence comes up with decisions but to the defense of such programming, Lazares believes that humans should have some control over the machine when it comes to an AI decision-making. Once the AI had initial training, the AI would be capable to learn autonomously which would make their inner workings difficult to understand. Therefore, the AI will eventually begin to make decisions that sometimes human wouldn’t be able to understand. This can be viewed as unethical since there’s software developers who doesn’t want any flaws to come to light and can have the potential to hinder the project. Stiehler, a CTO at e-discovery and analytics company Audie, says “ we don’t want to tell you (our product) is only 70 percent accurate and the software tend to hide errors which will make human intervention more difficult”. Unfortunately, in 2016 there was an investigation led by ProPublica which found the artificial intelligence system COMPAS showed bias against African American prisoners. There’s arguments that bias in the criminal justice system would exist with or without AI and there been plenty of complaints based upon judges and police too. There’s belief before fixing all the problems that the AI may have there should be more focus on addressing human biases. My opinion I believe that the Artificial Intelligence system shouldn’t be implemented since the AI goes by a system that could be or even hack into and changed which could make unethical human decisions. Having an AI system will block out empathy that a human may regard to another human’s circumstances. This is important to my career since this is the future of technology and if technology can start making human making decisions then eventually it’ll can replace humans altogether. There’s flaws about the AI being biased so there could be flaws on the algorithms that the AI is running by and some of those decisions can be unethical or unlawful to human life. Attorneys are defending and usually have their clients’ freedom or life in their decision making and a system that’s could have the opportunity to be bias wouldn’t be in the best interest of the clients.
