Excel files needed for these problems.
1. Modern software applications require rapid data access capabilities. An experiment was conducted to test the effect of data file size on the ability to access the files (as measured by read time, in milliseconds). Three different levels of data file size were considered: small - 50,000 characters; medium-75,000 characters; or large-100,000 characters. A sample of eight files of each size was evaluated. The access times, in milliseconds, are in the data file ACCESS (Data-One spreadsheet).
a. At the 0.05 level of significance, is there evidence of a difference among mean access read times for the three file sizes? (Assume that the assumptions for this type of test are satisfied.)
Complete the following:1. State H0. 2. State H1. 3. State the value of α. 4. State the value of the test statistic. 5. State the p-value. 6. State the decision in terms of H0 and why. 7. State the decision in terms of the problem.
b. If appropriate, use the Tukey-Kramer multiple comparisons procedure to determine which file sizes significantly differ with respect to mean access read time. (Use α = 0.05.)
