One of the most common mistakes by business owners is their inability to visualize their target customer. Specifically, business owners use "loose" terms and "general characteristics" to describe their customers. For the businesses that sell to consumers, these problems include using words like "upper class" or "middle class" or "well educated" or "all races". For the businesses that sell to other businesses, these problems include business owners using words like " I target the service industry" or "I target big firms".
