Use an article that simply explains or describes something (8 Steps to...; How to...; etc.). Find an article on this in a professional journal in your field and be sure that the author is making a case for something. Then:
1. Give bibliographical information on your article.
2. Paraphrase the authors argument in terms of major premises and conclusions.
3. Analyze the argument in terms of all of the critical thinking tools we have talked about. Include any fallacies in reasoning that you see.
4. Identify what you see to be the relevant Obligations, Ideals, and Consequences with regard to this issue.
5. Write your own position on this issue .
6. Indicate how your own ethical positions and values are reflected in this position.
Hints:
It is more important that you cover each of these 6 considerations than that your paper flow with prose! You can even, if you prefer, number the 6 aspects as you deal with them in the paper!
Be sure to find an article that takes a position, ie. offers an argument on the issue. This may sound obvious, but it is not always easy to see when an argument is being presented and not merely an explanation.
