Nicole is a new employee in the office. She has already been late four (4) times in her first three (3) weeks. Miranda, the office manager, needs Nicole to be on time. Miranda must give Nicole a written warning and inform her that, if she is late again, she will be fired. Miranda will need to choose her communication strategy carefully.

1. Is it better for Miranda to take a direct or an indirect approach (as defined in Chapter 1 of your textbook) when speaking with Nicole and why?
2. Discuss why it is important for Miranda to follow up with Nicole in writing.
3. If you were in Nicole's position, explain whether you would prefer Miranda to use a direct or indirect approach with you and why.
