Scenario

You are currently carrying out a work placement at a business consultancy service. The service provides advice, guidance and training to organisations looking to improve their efficiency and productivity.

Your placement supervisor is keen to give you meaningful tasks to complete throughout your experience and has asked you to create some training materials for organisations looking to improve their administration systems. He will then use your work to produce the final product.

Activity 1

Your first task is to create a training pack to help organisations better understand how a framework of integrated systems affects their administrative performance.

Your training pack must:

• Explain the contribution an integrated framework of systems makes to efficient and effective administrative performance

Your placement supervisor has asked that the training pack includes examples taken from real life organisations. You should consider an organisation you know well and:

• Evaluate the potential drawbacks to systems in the context of this organisation
• Evaluate an integrated framework of systems in the chosen organisation

Activity 2

Your placement supervisor was impressed by your detailed and professional training materials. He has arranged for you to work alongside him with a client, who is looking to better understand the role and function of their policies and procedures in meeting their customer requirements.

You should create a formal report based on this organisation. The report must clearly:

• Identify criteria for development of administrative procedures for a specified organisation
• Analyse the purposes of administrative policies and procedures
• Analyse the relationship between formulating policy and preparing procedures

Activity 3

The client has asked the consultancy to consider the effectiveness of their current procedures and would like to have an overview. Your placement supervisor has delegated the task to you. You are required to prepare a presentation with detailed visual aids and a supporting hand-out. In preparation for meeting the client you need to make the presentation to your supervisor.

Your presentation must:

• Judge the extent to which a set of procedures meets customer requirements
