Aim of the unit: The aim and purpose of this unit is to give learners an understanding of how marketing, research and planning and the marketing mix are used by all organisations.
Assignment 1 - Types and Purpose of Business Information
Scenario - You have been considered for a new role within an organisation and have been tasked to carry out a research on a business organisation to explore how they manage and communicate information. Choose your preferred organisation and present your findings in a report to address the following questions:
Task 1 -
P1. Explain different types of business information, where the information originates from and the purpose of the information and analyse them.
(You need to choose an organisation and investigate it in order to explain the different types of information verbal; written; onscreen; multi-media; web based that are being used, where this information originates and its purpose.)
M1. Analyse different types of business information and their sources.
D1. Evaluate the appropriateness of business information used to make strategic decisions.
Assignment 2 - Corporate Communications of an organisation
Note: Your new role will require that you do an individual work on corporate communications of your chosen business.
Task 2 -
P2. Present complex internal business information using written document, verbal presentation and power point as appropriate in the context. Your presentation contents should include company mission statement, goals and objectives.
P3. Produce corporate communications for your chosen organisation.
(This could be an advert for a poster or a leaflet communicating information about the business or one of its products or services. The communication could be the information to be incorporated on a product's packaging or a design for the livery on delivery vehicles.)
P4. Evaluate the external corporate communications of an existing product or service.
D2. Evaluate the effectiveness of business information and its communication as key contributors to the success of an organisation, using examples to illustrate your points.
Assignment 3 - Legal and Ethical Issues of an organisation, explaining operational issues
Note: Your work colleagues are very busy with other assignments and hence your line manager requires you to do further individual work on the legal and ethical issues of your chosen organisation and give explanation of their operational issues.
