Scenario: You have recently started work as a junior IT Application Developer in a medium sized company. The company has alarge number of office based staff who make use of a wide range of computer software including office, Internet and email applications. You supervisor has asked you to investigate whether the company might be able to make better use of customised and integrated applications.
Task 1 The first step in the investigation is to write a report in which you evaluate how and why customised and integrated applicationscould meet the company needs.
You need to cover:
• Types of application software that can be customised and integrated
• Purposes of customising and integrating applications
• Issues with customising and integrating applications
• Programming languages used to customise and integrate applications
• How different application software can be customised and integrated
Your evaluation needs to compare customised and integrated applications with off-the-shelf software and the factors that need to be considered in deciding which technology to use.
Your evaluation will lead to a supported judgement, showing relationship to its context.
Your work should demonstrate high quality communication through the use of accurate and fluent vocabulary, supporting a logically structured and thought out response.

Scenario: You have recently started work as a junior IT Application Developer in a medium sized company. The company has a large number of office based staff who make use of a wide range of computer software including office, Internet and email applications. You supervisor has asked you to investigate whether the company might be able to make better use of customised and integrated applications.
Task 1: Following your initial evaluative report the next step in your investigation is to produce 6 short example solutions which you should use to critically analyse how applications can be customised and integrated to better meet organisational needs. You will need to examine the solutions in a methodical and detailed way, considering alternative ways of completing the activities and recommend your preferred solution.

Scenario: You recently started work as a junior IT Application Developer in a medium sized company. The company has a large number of office based staff who make use of a wide range of computer software including office, Internet and email applications. Following your investigation into customised and integrated applications you supervisor has asked you to develop a solution for the company Training Department. The Training Department produce a spreadsheet which lists the courses they run each month. The solution should allow users to select the training sessions they wish to attend on a form (based on the spreadsheet). The responses the user makes on the form will then create a summary document listing the selections made which is emailed to the user.
Task 1 You need to:
• Produce an effective design for the customised and integrated application to meet the needs of the Training Department providing sufficient detail for the solution to be developed. Justify your design decisions including discussion of alternative solutions and why these were rejected.
• Carry out a review of the design with at least two other people and annotate the original design identifying improvements that could be made at the development stage.
• Develop the solution and carry out testing to ensure the solution functions correctly and meets the Training Departments requirements.
• During development and following testing optimise the solution adding functionality to better meet the Training Department's needs.
• Evaluate the design and the completed, optimised solution making suitable and reasoned justifications of the decisions taken in comparison to alternative solutions.
Overall the evidence will demonstrate that you can evaluate the designs and the optimised solution to meet the company requirements and that you can work professionally and independently. Technical terminology should be correctly and consistently used. The evidence should beeasy to read and understand by a third party.
