ASSIGNMENT

Aim & Objective

This coursework is designed to demonstrate the broad understanding and knowledge of the module, assessing and evaluating the student's strength and level of analysis; divided into four learning outcomes. The coursework should be submitted as one document in a report format in final submission.

Assignment Scenario:

UK startup Hopin operates a platform that allows businesses to create online networking events. Fittingly, the company is fully-remote and employs nearly 500 people from around the world.

Hopin has just developed their latest online platform, where users can host large-scale events that are public or private and apply company branding to the online venue. The company also offers plenty of tools for networking, such as brainstorming sessions, the ability to give out virtual business cards and a connection discovery tool to pair people up for discussion. Hopin's ultimate aim is to recreate the in-person event experience as closely as possible online.

The global COVID lockdown saw the number of events the company hosted almost triple in six months.

You have been appointed as an IT consultant for this organisation and you are there to also support their expansion goals.

As part of a team, your first task is to create an online event to launch and explain all the features of the platform to their top corporate clients.

Based on the above scenario write a report that should fulfil the following requirements:

LO1 Demonstrate a range of interpersonal and transferable communication skills to a target audience.
The founder of the organisation has required you to assist in planning and organising the corporate event including the delivery of a group presentation to the selected group of customers.

Making use of your communication and effective time management skills, you will plan, organise and implement the event. It is expected that you explain the concepts and supported with academic sources as well as a clear evaluation of the effectiveness and application of interpersonal skills during the design and delivery of the event.

In the planning stage you must inform the key stakeholders (Managers, colleagues, clients, etc) about how you will organise this event. Please ensure you include the following:

1. Email to your manager /founder to report your progress
2. Email to potential Guest Speaker
3. Professional schedule and weekly planning of the event for 8 weeks
4. Agenda for the online event (including the topic you are presenting)

LO2 Apply critical reasoning and thinking to a range of problem-solving scenarios.

Hopin has encounter a few Challenges when Handling previous online events. Your manager has given you a list of them (see below) and you have been requested to choose 1 of them and demonstrate how you would overcome it. You must apply two different problem-solving techniques, justifying the range of solution methodologies that you used.

Your discussion must demonstrate the critical reasoning you applied for the solution as well as the different techniques that you used. You should also consider criticising the whole process of applying critical reasoning to these particular challenges.

LO3 Discuss the importance and dynamics of working within a team and the impact of team working in different environments.

You are opening the online event with a group presentation. This is an opportunity to work as part of a team on the creation and delivery of a presentation on how team dynamics can contribute to create successful online events. It is expected that the group explain and assess how the team worked together for the preparation of the presentation.

Individually you must reflect on your experience as team member and discuss the concept of team dynamics and its importance in the success or failure of group work. A professional presentation should include a deep analysis of the topic in terms of the role group play in a team and also the effectiveness in terms of achieving shared goals. It is expected that you provide a critical evaluation of your own role and contribution to a group scenario.

LO4 Examine the need for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and its role within the workplace and for higher-level learning.

This particular task surely has demonstrated the importance of complementing your hard skills and competences with transferable and soft skills that would help you to handle other similar business activities. Therefore, it is time to look at your options in terms of continuous professional development. Complete your report with a discussion about how important is CPD for your success and what is its real contribution to your own learning. You have been required to produce your own professional CPD which outlines responsibilities, performance objectives and required skills, knowledge and learning for your own future goals. Analyse your personal motivation and support your discussion with a comparison of different motivational theories and explain the impact they can have on performance within the workplace. Finally, it will be important for you to be able to measure your progress of your CPD, thus, to evaluate a range of evidence criteria used to measure effective CPD.
