A subtle way in which baseball enforces these hierarchal structures is through the unequal distribution of money, status, and appreciation between players. Of course, the ones at the top gain both more opportunities, more resources, and more power, while the ones at the bottom have to 'fight' for acknowledgment. Such a system provides the social context within which players are in a constant struggle to increase their status and recognition indicative of the organizational hierarchy within baseball. The rigidity of the organizations, at least in America's case, is evident not only within a particular team where some players tend to be promoted to legendary status while others languish with minimum recognition but even across the entire baseball league.
