Undertake a webquest and develop a PowerPoint presentation.
Scenario: You have just been employed as a knowledge manager in a company that is new to the idea of managing knowledge. Your task is to put together a PowerPoint presentation of 10 pages to achieve the following:
1. Describe knowledge management.
2. Knowledge Management Concepts.
• From the following list select three concepts that will need to be considered in formulating a KM strategy, and provide reasoning in your PowerPoint as to why these would be a good place to start:
• knowledge capture systems
• data mining
• intellectual capital
• knowledge taxonomy
• organisational memory
• domain expert
The Task
Task is to produce a PowerPoint slide presentation with accompanying notes.
To help you answer this question, you'll do three main things:
• Read online articles about knowledge management and the three topics that you have chosen to focus on.
• Develop PowerPoint slides that describe knowledge management and what this description means within an organisation, as well as the three issues you have selected that the organisation will need to consider.
• Develop notes for each PowerPoint slide. These notes show what you would say about each slide if you were to give the presentation to an organisation (Remember, for the assessment you will not have to present this to the class). Add these notes to the Notes section of each PowerPoint slide. Notes need to be written in sentence/paragraph format. Please do not provide your notes as dot points.
Develop PowerPoint slides
1. Slide 1: Title page (include student name, student number)
2. Present a description of knowledge management (in your notes explain what the description means in a business situation)
3. Concept 1 (identify the concept and the impact that it has on knowledge management. What things will the organisation have to consider when developing a KM strategy in relation to the concept)
