This individual research project invites students to critically analyse the digital business operations of an existing online business. Students must thoroughly analyse and discuss how businesses should leverage the latest digital technologies to continue to refine their digital business model, both strategically and operationally. Because digital business is a rapidly expanding and transforming market sector, this individual research project will likely generate rich analysis and discussions about digital disruption and transformation, digital technologies adoption and values creation in the digital business.

The topic of the assignment is the online grocery business. You need to select an online grocery business based in the UK as the subject of your research.

This assessment aims to offer an in-depth analysis and discussion of internal and external digital business operations of the selected online grocery business and develop a business proposal to improve the existing operation further, particularly focusing on the role of digital technologies. This includes developing a "feasible and practical" strategic plan to transform the current digital business operations. Once the analysis is completed and issues are identified, you are required to offer a thorough discussion on "how and why" it is critical to implement the proposed digital strategy plan. Evidence must be given to illustrate your points and support your arguments.

Questions

What is your thorough assessment of the online grocery business's internal and external digital business operation? Critically evaluate how digital technologies facilitate business operations internally and externally.

What evidence indicates the online grocery industry has transformed? Using evidence and theory, carefully identify and explain prior failures or weaknesses in the current digital business operations of the selected online grocery business? From the explanation given, critically assess the major threats to the current digital business operations.

Digital disruption can affect the aspect of the value chain in the online grocery industry. For example, cutting-edge digital megatrends (i.e., AI/ML, Big Data and Analytics, Social Media Platforms, Blockchain, Digital Customer Experience, Edge Computing, etc.) disrupt how companies (online grocery) do business and compete. To be competitive, it must have a unique and difficult-to-imitate business model. It's not enough to merely create positive values. Critically examine whether this online grocery business should foster digital business-model transformation by adopting cutting-edge digital technologies that may not only change the competitive landscape but represent a quantum leap in disrupting the online grocery industry.

Using the in-depth knowledge and understanding developed from Questions One, Two and Three. Critically evaluate how this online grocery business can stay at the forefront of online grocery innovation to become the UK online grocery of the future, both strategically and operationally? * To answer this question, you should critically explore what else should or can be done as the next steps in transforming itself for the digital era.

In this Assessment, students must establish a strong connection to the task/question associated with digital technologies. This includes demonstrating a very high degree of originality and complexity in a clear and direct response to key aspects of the question.

BUSINESS REPORT FORMATTING REQUIREMENTS.

In this section, we describe the formatting requirement for this Business Report. Please be sure to adhere to the formatting requirements as this final version for the Individual Assignment submission.

PAGE SIZE

On each page, your writing should fit within a rectangle of 20.9 x 29.7 cm (210 x 297 mm), beginning with the default margin of 2.54 cm on all sides (Top, Bottom, Left and Right of the page).

Title Page and Name

The assignment title page should be in Times New Roman 18-point bold. Your name, student ID and email address should be in Times New Roman 14-point bold. All the texts must be formatted as 'centre text."

Abstract/Executive Summary

The assignment should begin with an abstract of no more than 150 words. The Abstract/Executive Summary should be in Times New Roman 12-point, 1.5 lines spacing and justify text.

Body Text

References and Citations

References should be in Times New Roman 12-point, 1.5 lines spacing, justify text and list down references used in alphabetical order.

Use Harvard Style in Citing and Referencing. References must be up to date (within six years, i.e., 2016-2021/2022). You must include at least 20 references, i.e., Journal Article, Book, Use Case, Corporate/Business/Industry/Government Report, White Paper, Management Magazine, News Media (Limit to 6 references). Exclude Blogs, Wikipedia, Techs review websites/blogs, YouTube etc.

SECTIONS

The heading of a section should be in Times New Roman 16-point bold, all in capitals (Heading 1 Style in word document). All sections subsections and sub-subsections should be numbered.

Subsections

Headings of subsections should be in Times New Roman 13-point bold with initial letters capitalized (Heading 2 Style in word document).

Sub-subsections

Headings for sub-subsections should be in Times New Roman 12-point italic with initial letters capitalized (Heading 3 Style in word document). Please do not go any further into another layer/level.

FIGURES/CAPTIONS (IF NEEDED)

Place figures and tables close to the relevant text (or where they are referenced in the text). Captions should be Times New Roman 10-point bold. They should be numbered (e.g., "Table 1" or "Figure 2"), centred and placed beneath the figure or table. Please note that the words "Figure" and "Table" should be spelled out (e.g., "Figure" rather than "Fig.") wherever they occur.
