The two sources that I found pertaining to this case are the Dallas Observer and People Magazine. I would hate to say that much of what we read in our news is much like opinion articles, since most of the time the whole story is not told and important parts are left out, either intentionally to fit a narrative or unintentionally for legal reasons. These two sources were very similar in their findings and facts of the case, in that there were not too many differences between them. The two sources do mention the allegations very clearly and they do state what the parents of Zephaniah and her attorney's claim that she was coerced and was at the wrong place at the wrong time due to being exploited and being forced into sex trafficking. At the time of the crime she was 16, and due to the severity of her crime the juvenile system has sent over a certification to have her tried as an adult, which is done in most cases as such. The ethical dilemma here is if her claims are accurate and if she should be believed due to her alleged relationship with her handler/boyfriend. Understanding the severity and the psychological affects that this type of interactions (sex trafficking) has on a young child should be considered 100%. As her attorney stated that not all evidence was reviewed or permitted during the certification, and now it is up in the air of what may or may not happen. All aspects of this case needs to be heard, every detail, and every stone needs to be turned in order to ensure that true justice is being served.
