Film and television genres
Instruction: Your entry will focus on a SINGLE FILM that fits the horror genre following the categories in the 101 FILMS BOOK SERIES: 101 ACTION MOVIES, 101 HORROR MOVIES; 101 WAR MOVIES; 101 GANGSTER MOVIES; 101 SCI-FI MOVIES.
You may write on ANY one horror film in your selected category, EXCEPT for those films already covered in the 101 MOVIE books. As the entires in the 101 Movie books typically do not extend beyond 2006-2007, it is safe to choose any film from the last 10 years. See the 101 Horror film list here.
If in doubt, seek APPROVAL for your choice of film from your tutor.
Your entry will EXACTLY follow the following format:
400-430 (max.) words of main text
approx. 15-word quote (not including attribution)
40-word fact box (Director, Producers, Writers, Main Cast, Photography, Music, Oscar Noms/Wins or another relevant category).
Two images - a poster and screenshot from the film - are OPTIONAL.

Be mindful that you are writing for a horror genre book and your entry must address the way your film fits into and/or crosses over the boundaries of the horror genre.
Criteria for marking:
Coherent design and layout
The entry makes clear connections between key concepts of genre covered in pre-class videos, seminars and/or readings.
Uses critical thinking skills to develop a concise, well-informed understanding of the selected genre film
The written and visual style communicates a clear and succinct understanding of film genres
The entry exactly follows the format instructions for 101 MOVIE book series
Gives attention to detail and proofreading

Referencing requirements: None. Your entry should be fully researched but - aside from the attribution for your 15-word quote - you should process your sources and write the entry in your own words.
