Assessment - Marketing Pitch
Marketing is all about being able to communicate your ideas to specific audiences. The purpose of this assessment is to help you develop your presentation skills as it is one of the most common ways of communicating in business. There are many technological aids that can help a presenter so it is important to have a good understanding of how technology can help you.
This assessment requires you to create a presentation using PowerPoint slides. You will learn how to analyse internal and external marketing environments and develop an understanding of the marketing strategy process for target market segments. You will also begin to learn how to communicate your ideas effectively.
This marketing pitch will serve as a basis for your Marketing Plan assessment which will ask you to undertake a thorough situational analysis of your business and develop marketing strategies.
Assessment instructions
This assessment is based on what you have studied in Modules 1, 2 & 3 and based on Chapters 1, 2 & 3 of the required textbook.
Question 1. You are a marketing consultant working for a new or existing small business. You are required to select the business you wish to create your pitch (and eventual Marketing Plan) for. You can choose an existing business you are familiar with (in other words, a real-world business), or you can focus on a hypothetical small business that you have made up.
Question 2. You have been asked to develop a new marketing plan for a new target market identified by your chosen business. To start the process, your manager asks you to develop a PowerPoint presentation outlining the following elements: an introduction to the business, which outlines a brief overview of the major products and services offered by your chosen business an overview of the industry your business will be competing within the Mission, Vision and Objectives of your business a reflection of external environmental forces key competitors proposed new target market - who will be your customers?
Question 3. You should ensure that you achieve the following learning outcomes:

4. You will have the opportunity to reflect on your marketing pitch during Module/Week 3 tutorials. There will also be weekly online drop-in sessions if you need support with this assessment.
5. You must pre-record your pitch as a 10-minute presentation, including PowerPoint slides.
