The focus of this assignment is to gain a better understanding of the availability of primary health care in your community. In addition, you will be exploring ethical issues surrounding governmental support of primary health care. Please post a response specific to each of these items. You must address each question within each item.

Question 1. Identify four organizations in your community that deliver primary health care. Based on the objective material that you obtain, determine whom they serve, what services they provide, and where their funding comes from. Based on your findings, describe how each organization meets a unique primary health care service need within your community.

Question 2. Some health care policy makers have proposed that government funding should be used to provide health promotion and illness and injury prevention services rather than to treat existing health problems. In other words, achieve the greatest good for the greatest number of people or for the population as a whole. What are the ethical implications of such proposals? What approaches (frameworks) to ethical decision making would support such proposals? What approaches (frameworks) would argue against them?

Question 3. Interview one of the following consumers of health care:
• a person older than 65 years of age
• a young mother (younger than 25 years of age)
• a married man or woman, middle to late 20s
• a single man or woman, middle to late 30s

Ask about the following:
• How the person pays for major healthcare
• If insured, what are the out-of-pocket expenses
• How much is spent on non-reimbursable health care each month, including over-the-counter and self-treatment products
• How adequate each person feels his or her health care coverage is Post the type of consumer that you interviewed and their responses to each of the 4 points posed.
