Summarize and critically analyze one assigned reading from Part One or Part Two of the course

The summary should be about one page and the critique about two pages.

Papers must demonstrate an understanding of the arguments about world politics covered in the course, and an ability to understand how these arguments make sense of real world situations.

• Note that some readings are more appropriate objects of critique than others. You should not choose one of the following readings, since they lacks core arguments to summarize and critique:

Levy (Jan. 13); Ikenberry ("Varieties of Order," Jan. 20)*; Kupchan (Feb. 3)**; and Reus-Smit (Feb. 10).

• You can choose the other Ikenberry articles, e.g. "The Myth of Post Cold War Chaos."

They should be formatted as follows:

• Responses should be 3-4 pages long double-spaced (excluding title page and bibliography), 12 pt Times New Roman font, 1-inch margins

• No more than one page should be summary
