To strengthen your understanding of structure and electrical activity (movement of ions) of the neuron, please create a FUNCTIONING model of the neuron. You may use items like modeling clay, K'nex®, Lego®, popsicle sticks and glue, string and gum, or ANYTHING that helps you visualize: 

1. The PARTS of the neuron,

2. How the ions are organized (concentration gradient & electrical gradient for resting potential), and 

3. How the ions move during all phases of electrical communication (action potential & EPSP/IPSP).
