Culture has a significant influence on how employees relate with one another in global organizations. One tool for understanding cultural influences is Hofstede's model, which describes five primary dimensions of culture.

  1. How can employees use an understanding of Hofstede's cultural dimensions to navigate cross-cultural situations in the workplace?
  2. Consider your own national culture (your culture of origin or the culture you most identify with). Where does your culture fall on these dimensions, and how might this challenge you in taking on a work assignment in a different culture? What could you do to mitigate these challenges?
