1. Hofstede's study is, per the course text, considered an especially significant one in terms of understanding diversity at work across the globe. And, as the course text notes, there are deeply concerning issues/biases at play here. Select one of Hofstede's dimensions, and explain (1) how biases and/or stereotypes may have influenced the construction of this dimension, and (2) what potential negative consequences this dimension could have for people using it to think about managing diversity.

2. Describe, in detail, a specific example of a time when cross-cultural communication was necessary. Do NOT use one of the examples from the course text-you may create a specific hypothetical from your own imagination, or find and cite one from a reliable source. Which of the three goals-instrumental, relational, or identity management-was this communication hoping to achieve? What strategies made it effective or ineffective, especially in terms of cultural fluency?
