Angela is a 34-year-old participant. Who has been out of the workforce for the last 10 years raising her 3 children, now aged 9, 8 and 6.
Angela does have a mental health problem which she controls through medication and has asked that this information remains confidential.
Her interests are in community care work, and she is currently enrolled in a Certificate III in Individual support.
Part of the course requirements are that students have to undertake a work placement component to complete their training.
The Registered Training Organisation (RTO) advised Angela; they would assist her with finding work placements if required before she started the training.
Angela says she lacks confidence in approaching employers and has been unable to find a placement. She has now been advised by the RTO that unless she finds and completes a work placement, she will not pass the course.
Angela is asking for support to assist her navigate through the RTO complaint process, which includes drafting a complaint letter to the RTO regarding her course and the lack of assistance she has received from them in finding a work placement as promised at the time of enrolling.
