Risk and professional issues
Introduction
This assignment aims to assess both your understanding and application of risk analysis and risk management, and also legal, social, ethical and environmental professional issues for a computer science or communications related topic. Additionally this will assess your ability to work effectively as part of a team working to tight deadline. Your group needs to produce a group presentation, worth 10%, and each student needs to produce an individual report, worth 40%.
Individual work
You are to write a report on a given topic to consider and discuss relevant risk, legal, social, ethical, environmental, and professional issues for your assigned topic. The report should be between 2000-2500 words (we will not penalise you if you go over this limit as long as it is well written and relevant). The 40% for the report will be allocated as follows -
- Introduction to the topic and lit survey
- Risk analysis and management
- A consideration of social, legal, ethical, environmental, and professional issues
- A reflection on the group work component, reflecting on what worked, what didn't and anything you may do differently in the future
Group work
Each individual topic relates to a more general topic that has been allocated to each group. Each group is expected to work together to to produce a presentation on their more general topic. The presentation should contain -
- An introduction to the topic
- Key issues in the topic
- A consideration of social, legal, ethical, environmental, and professional issues
- A breakdown of which student(s) have contributed to which aspects of the work.
