The reflective process provides an opportunity for students to deepen their learning. Reflective Journal contains regular reflection on the concepts presented and discussed in class, specifically their application to your personal, practical knowledge and experience. By the end of this assessment, students will be able to:
a) Understand the concepts and theories of leadership.
b) Identify various leadership styles.
c) Identify the importance of leadership qualities for managers.
d) Enhance skills to develop leadership in an organization.
e) Understand how leadership is applied in practice in teams and an organization.
Assessment Brief You need to keep a reflective journal, which you will later use to inform a written assignment. You may be asked to include comment on lectures, performances and the pre-reading and classroom experience. You are required to submit three (3) learning journals on the following chapters:
1. Chapters 1 & 2: Introduction to leadership: What does it mean to be a leader and Research perspectives on leadership.
2. Chapters 4 & 6: The personal side of leadership: Courage and moral leadership.
3. Chapters 8 & 9: The leader as relationship builder: Leadership communication and leading teams.
The content of the reflection is up to you, although it should be based on the ideas and discussions from class and the relevant assigned
readings. As well, a number of activities and reflection questions will be suggested in each class. Reflective Journal entries must:
1. demonstrate application of course materials to personal experience and observations,
2. include an evaluation of those experiences and also lessons learned.
