Here is a real-life scenario that happened to me when I was getting my undergraduate degree in social work. At my school, all social work students were required to do a semester-long practicum in order to finish their degree work. I chose to work at a program that assisted troubled kids. My supervisor had been with the program for many years, so I was excited to learn from her. I discovered pretty early on in my practicum that my supervisor was having an extramarital affair, which caused her a lot of stress because she was constantly worried about her husband finding out. She spent many extended lunch hours with her boyfriend, which left me on my own for large periods of time. In addition to this personal affair, my supervisor would take me shopping with her during many afternoons; she would always come up with some way to justify how what we were doing was helping the kids.
