Following a diversity and inclusion workshop for all supervisors, a hiring committee (which includes you) was put together to help find a new employee. After whittling down the recruits, the committee was undecided between 2 candidates - one of whom was an African-American male from an out-of-town HBCU (Historically Black College or University) and the other, a Protestant female from a local community college.

As the company had identified an under-representation of African-Americans in the workforce, they want to appoint him as the new hire. However, your daughter applied for the position and she is the 2nd candidate. A good friend, who is actually one of your direct reports, has asked you if they can put a good word to the rest of the committee to sway the votes? You know your daughter is well qualified for the job, and would be a great employee for the company.
