UMCDPR-15-M Personal and Professional Development - University of the West of England
Component: Group presentation based on simulation
Task: PowerPoint presentation based on the business simulation with annotated notes. Produce a 30-minute (30 slides - 1 minute per slide) team PowerPoint presentation based on the business simulation. Provide notes for each slide with the speech you would use if you were to present the slide face-to-face.
The presentations must include:
- Critical analysis of what happened during the simulation
- Links to theory learned in semester 1 and evidence of wider reading
- Application of theory/frameworks from all modules in semester 1
Student teams are required to create a PowerPoint presentation based on the performance of their virtual company linked to their learning across the programme.
Please note that we are looking for a critical analysis of what you have learned with this simulation in connection to your modules in the MSc programme. Therefore, mostly descriptive presentations that focus only on what happened in the simulation alone (with no links to theory) will fail to address the task for this assignment. All team members will be awarded the same mark for the presentation.
Simulation Preparation and Tasks
To get the most out of the Simulation you are expected to review the simulation output and participate in the team decision-making process.
At various points over the duration of this module your team is required to maintain a Team Log which you will need to submit at the end. You should also retain a copy of these documents for your own use. Templates for these documents are provided on Blackboard.
1. Team Constitution/contract. Invariably, and perhaps especially among friends, tension is likely to build during the team simulation experience. Experience shows the best way to help you manage any such conflict is by spending time to create a sound understanding of the parameters by which you wish to manage your working relationships in the team. You will need to submit a copy of your team's Constitution, signed by all team members when the simulation kicks off (see example templates in Appendix I).
2. Decision Logs. For each simulation Decision (other than the Practice Decision) your team is required to complete a Decision Log and submit this. The Decision Log is intended to help you identify key issues and capture key decisions as you progress through the simulation. The purpose is to provide you with a record that you can then draw on in developing your presentation. If you decide to alter the core thrust of your strategy or any major policies after you have developed your strategic plan, these should be recorded. (see template in Appendix II)
3. Strategic Plan. To help guide your overall approach to running your company, each team is required to develop a simple outline plan (see template in Appendix III).
Component A2: Individual reflection (1000 words)
Task: individual written reflection
This reflective piece needs to highlight the transferrable skills that have been gained/developed and how you believe your learning from the programme can be applied to your future career. (1000 words)
This reflection focuses on the programme experience as a whole (not just on this module).
Building on their initial personal development plans and skills audit, students will be required to critically reflect on their individual learning throughout the programme and how this has, or they believe will, help shape their future career. The critical reflection should provide evaluation of the extent to which they have used relevant concepts and theories to make a contribution to their future career as well as their own learning.
Students must use a reflective model to underpin their reflection and also some references to support their evaluations.
The following criteria will be used in evaluating this assessment:
You are asked to write an individual reflection. The most important elements in this reflection are: that you are able to write them in a clear manner, that you are able to use and apply adequately a reflective model, select relevant experiences/examples, identify patterns of attitudes and behaviours by critically reflecting on those experiences, use some references to support your evaluations. Please see Appendix A for the detailed marking grid.
You have to include what happened in the company during the simulation. The decisions excel sheet which includes the decisions related to the HR department.
Which theory use to make that decision or for any application we perform during the simulation related to the HR dept.
Chosen company - smart mobile
you can find all details about that on the link below and details my part is HR department so you do on this topic.
