UFMFJN-15-3 Radio Frequency and Microwave Circuit Design Assignment - University of the West of England, UK, Global College Of Engineering and Technology, Oman
Purpose of the Assignment - The strategy has been chosen to ensure that the RF and Microwaves engineering principles are assessed under controlled conditions, while a more open-ended research based group assignment is used to encourage wider engagement and reflection on this topic. In component B, the students will design a microwave communication circuit and will implement it by simulating using a given simulation package. The output from this group work activity will be a 3000 word group report and a 500 word individual reflection.
This is a semester coursework assignment in which you are required to propose, design and simulate the RF subsystem. You are required to compare the results. Thus this assignment is engineered to provide a mix trend of research and industry. This assignment aims to cover the following learning outcomes:
1. Apply concepts underlying the design of RF and microwave circuits.
2. Apply engineering and scientific principles of other disciplines to support real-world implementation of RF circuits design.
3. Identify, compare and describe the performance of microwave systems.
4. Evaluate performance of transmission lines using simulation software
5. Investigate constraints including ethical, health, safety, security and risk issues and code of practice and standards
6. Accurately present and interpret data,
Group Task - This group task is a small research-type exercise where you will select a project from a given list of topics or you may suggest your own project by discussing and confirming with the module leader. The projects include:
1. An up to date literature review of the selected topic. You should try to cite related recently journal and conference papers.
2. In your research, you should investigate the effects of risks, such as health and safety, commercial, and security due to mobile communication system.
3. Designing a model solution of chosen problem in the selected project. Validating the solution with the help of a software simulation study. The simulation tools and platform is your choice.
4. Concluding remarks and future direction of the projected.
5. Demonstration of the project.
