You are required to investigate and evaluate the strategic marketing activities adopted by a variety of multinationals to respond to the changes of consumer behaviour in an international context. Your investigation should be informed by relevant literature on international marketing and consumer behaviour.

Report format should include sub-headings and should be written in the third person. Your report should include diagrams and/or tables. If you wish to refer to additional data to support your discussion/argument, these must be placed in the appendices (accurately labelled within the report and in the appendices).

Word count: 2,000 words.

Assessed Learning outcome: The assessed learning outcomes for this assignment are as follows:

1. Demonstrate a command of contemporary international marketing knowledge

2. Critically analyse and interpret the strategic activities of multinational organisations in a range of industries.

Select a company of your choice and critically analyse the international marketing opportunities for this company. Additionally, you have to develop a creative marketing strategy to expand across international markets.

Submission and Assessment Instructions: Work must be submitted with a front page stating the official module title, assessment component title, word count and your student ID number. Tutors cannot accept assignments to be assessed nor can it be e-mailed or faxed to them. Failure to submit an assignment will lead to a fail being recorded. If you fail to submit the assignment on the published deadline due to exceptional circumstances you may be eligible to apply for mitigation in accordance with the University of Cumbria’s Academic Regulations. Submission of your assignment past the deadline may be accepted by Blackboard but will still be a late submission.

Your work should be word processed, using font 12 for text, 14 for sub-headings/headings and 1.5 line spacing. The guideline word limit is 2,000 plus/minus 10% for each report excluding quotations, sources and appendices. A word count total must be provided on the front page for each assignment submitted. Use evidence or cite sources to support your claims. Weaker assignments tend to make assertions or claims often rather wide-ranging ones without supporting evidence. Conversely stronger assignments make clear the basis of any claims made. Wikipedia – while this is a very useful source, it is also one beset with errors. It is not an appropriate reference for academic work. Many assignments are marred by minor errors and an easily rectifiable lack of clarity. Proof reading will reduce this.
